South Carolina School Board Association's Legislative Review on Thursday

SCSBA looks forward to our Legislative Preview live webcast from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 4  and we hope you will be able to participate/view online. The following information is to help with planning for the event and/or answer questions you may have.  

 

View/participate online free of charge

• Individuals can view/participate from their home or office computers. Some school boards view/participate as a group at a school or distrct office location. A high speed internet connection is highly recommended to adequately view live, streaming video and sound capability is a must.  
• The link to view/participate in the webcast is http://www.scsba.org/home_video_falllegpreview.html (note: if you go to this link now, you will see a screen and chat box but obviously no video.)
• Questions and comments can be made during the webcast by typing them into the chat box or emailing them to ask@scsba.org.

View online afterwards

• A link of the recorded program will be emailed to school board secretaries/clerks about two weeks after the webcast to forward to anyone who could not participate.
• Questions and comments can be made during the webcast by typing them into the chat box that will be seen at the bottom of the screen. Keep in mind your comments/questions will be seen by all viewing the program.

General information

• The purpose of the Legislative Preview webcast is to provide information on top educational legislative issues for school boards to discuss with their legislative delegation this fall before they return to Columbia in January 2013. The webcast will provide a summary of the issues as well as talking points and position statements to use with delegation members. Other objectives are to:
  • learn about efforts to reform education funding; and,
    
  • discuss the November general elections and possible impact to the General As­sembly.
• Board members who view/participate in the webcast will receive 5 points and 2 hours credit in the Boardmanship Institute. Board secretaries are asked to email the names of participating board members to Sandy Poole at spoole@scsba.org by Monday, October 31, 2012 to receive credit.
• SCSBA will post a video of the webcast about two weeks after the event for members not able to  view/participate live online.
