Special Events
  • The ribbon cutting and grand opening of the newly renovated Auto Collision and Repair facility at the Applied Technology Center were held on May 17. Renovations were made possible when instructor Mark Dellinger applied for and won a $50,000 makeover grant through the National Auto Collision Repair Foundation.
  • The 4th Annual Dolly Parton Imagination Library Bowl-a-Thon will be held this Saturday, May 19, at Strikers Family Sportscenter at 124 N. Anderson Road in Rock Hill. This is a county-wide competition in which elementary schools  raise money to buy books for students from birth to age 5. Our schools have already raised over $5,000.
 
Upcoming Performances
  • Northwestern High School Choral Dept. - 7:00 p.m. May 17 and May 18, auditorium, directed by Eugene Bumgardner, $7 admission.  The combined choirs of the Troubadours and Singers will present John Rutters "Gloria" complete with  brass, percussion and organ and "Disney Magic" with medleys from Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Lion King.
  • South Pointe High School Stallion Corral Concert Choir - 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, auditorium, directed by  Beverly Laney $5/adults and $4/students and children. "Stars 4 A Night" will include popular genres of music through solos, duets and trios.
  • Northwestern High School Orchestra - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, auditorium, directed by Marsha Gross, donations accepted.  "An Evening at the Cinema" will feature popular movie themes, including Titanic and Harry Potter.
  • Northside Elem. School of the Arts - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, Sullivan Auditorium. Fifth-graders will present  Disney's "Aladdin."
 
Congratulations to . . .
  • Willean Wilkes, a 12-month employee who will enjoy a day off on May 18, compliments of the Energy Conservation Apple Contest. Willean is an administrative assistant in Student Services.
  • Rebecca Sanderson, from York Road Elementary, and Gwen Colter, from Independence Elementary, who are proud to report that nine members of the Elementary Honors Choir have been selected to participate in the S. C. Elementary All-State Chorus. The students will perform at the Fall Conference of the S.C. Chapter of the American Choral Directors Assn.  in Myrtle Beach in October.
 
Summer Camps

Northwestern will hold a football camp titled "Air Raid" in June for ages 6-14 with the Trojan's Head Football Coach, Kyle Richardson.

Pine Needle Sale


Northwestern's cheerleaders will be selling bales of pine needles, beginning May 19 through May 26 or until all bales have been sold.
