Special Night For Thursday Football

Thursday night high school football games are usually not well attended, but when two schools share the same facility, it is often not available. So, two things happened at last nights Northwestern/Lancaster football game that a lot of people didn't get to see.

First, was the Northwestern High School band's tribute to  director Larry Wells who is retiring at the end of this year after 40+ years teaching our children. It looked like it was a surprise to Mr. Wells. I'm still having a hard time visualizing a band performance without Mr. Wells being there - and I'd like to add my appreciation to Mr. Wells as well.

Second was the support the Northwestern football team and athletic department showed to cancer awareness. The coaches wore pink shirts and every player had some type of pink on. Many on the Lancaster team also had pink after being made aware what Northwestern was going to do. Hats off to all for showing support and awareness.
