Rock Hill School News For Thursday, November 18, 2010

Noteworthy:
  • Jimmy Chrismon, drama teacher at South Pointe High School, has been selected as the Outstanding Theatre Educator of the Year by the South Carolina Theatre Association.
  • Jim Koterba, a teacher at Saluda Trail Middle School and a coach at South Pointe High School, was featured in the Charlotte Observer on Nov. 17 about his efforts with a legally blind ninth grade runner. The article reflects  how a caring coach can make a student believe in his ability to do something he or she thought was impossible.
  • Tamara Altman, Northwestern High School's Theatre Arts Teacher, and her Musical Theatre Class will present Pandemonium: The Best of Times at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 & 20. There is no admission charge.
  • Julia McCallum, music specialist, and students at Belleview Elementory School will present Five Gold Rings, a holiday musical for children on Dec. 2. Click here for details.
  • First-graders at Northside Elementary School of the Arts will present the abridged version of A Year With Frog at 8:30 Friday morning, Nov. 19. Students learned the song, dance, and characterization in their music, dance, and drama classes and did illustrations for the poster and program in art class.
