Greg Gregory, "Restructure now to save our state"

Saturday's Rock Hill Herald has a To The Contrary post from former SC State Senator Greg Gregory on the inefficiencies of our state government. A piece of that involved public education.

He is right!

Now is the time to change the way our state government operates so we can prepare for the 21st century. We also need to revisit our (and every other state's) method of operating schools. School districts, school boards, and many superintendents are an inefficient way to run an organization. In theory it should produce innovation, but in practice, it protects the status quo and drives up costs. Our city, county, state, and country is facing a financial crisis. Now is the time to become world class. Support the first step - revisit the way we conduct business at all levels of government.
