The seven secrets behind great teaching

Read the complete article, The seven secrets behind great teaching, at TES Connect. High points are below:

1. They build confidence

2. They’re not afraid to make difficult decisions

3. They develop others

4. They’re good communicators

5. They’re non-conformists

6. They thrive in the company of others

7. They see the bigger picture

Where teachers “could do better”

  • Teachers scored low on attention to detail in the personality tests.
  • In the behavioural interviews, the teachers weren’t so good at coming up with alternative plans. They tended to stick to one plan and move straight into action, rather than considering and developing their options.
  • Teachers showed little evidence of measuring and monitoring performance and weren’t as focused on setting and working towards improvement goals.
