District Information 1-10

Award Winners
...Rosewood Elementary, winner of a "Silver" award in the state's Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards program. The school will receive an award flag, a certificate, and a monetary award of $9,936 for its report card rating..

...Family Trust Teacher Grant Winners—Bryan Hullender and Jo Ann Wishert (Old Pointe), Mia Beleos (Lesslie), Elaine Howie (Northside), Dawn Pursley (Northwestern), and Kathy Stamm (Sullivan).

<Hats off to The Children's School and coordinators Laura Ashe, Yolanda Adams, and Melissa Janus on their successful December service projects. Students sent 127 boxes of goodies to soldiers in the Middle East; collected 104 books for the Children's Attention Home; provided 115 canned goods to the Salvation Army; and provided more than 75 pairs of shoes to families in the Dominican Republic. Kudos must also go to the students and staff at Old Pointe which raised over $1,000 for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and to Jenna Wilson's FCCLA members at the ATC who raised over $1,009 for the "Make A Wish Foundation."

<The showcase in the district office now displays stunning artwork by our elementary visual art teachers. Rebecca Ramsey, from Oakdale, organized the exhibit which will be up through January.

<According to the national Quality Counts 2008 report, released on Jan. 9, S.C. ranks #1 in state efforts to attract, develop and keep the best teachers possible and #9 in education performance and policymaking
